A personal favorite of mine, For the Love of Dolly shines a spotlight on the überfans of Dolly Parton. Sure, I love Dolly, but these people really, really love Dolly. Oh, you're a Dolly fan? When your house is so full of Dolly memorabilia that you are living in your garage, then we'll talk. These fans follow Dolly around from appearances on Jay Leno to the season opening of Dollywood. All they want is for Dolly to notice them and then everything will be okay. Isn't that what we're all looking for? Be honest. Sure, the level of dedication to Dolly is frightening, but hilarious nonetheless. The filmmaker let's his subjects speak for themselves. With excellent editing and compelling subjects, this is one of the best documentaries we've seen all year. - Mo Ratel Letters To Dolly is a gorgeous collection of short films linked by the narrator’s letters to Dolly Parton, exploring how, through Dolly, the narrator found herself, her femininity and her power. |
