Sports remain one of the last bastions of homophobia in our society; no lesbian or gay man has yet come out of the closet while playing for a major American sports team. But despite the continuing challenges, one thing is clear---gay sports are out for good! Now, every four years a diverse array of athletes, artists, activists and spectators celebrate the Gay Games. Originally called the Gay Olympics (until the United States Olympic Committee sued), the Gay Games has become one of the world’s largest sporting events.  Narrated by Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis, Take the Flame! is a jock doc featuring athletes Martina Navratilova, David Kopay, Billy Bean and Bruce Hayes, author Armistead Maupin, Ambassador James Hormel and many major musical stars.
