Come start the Festival with an evening of jazz music by Kellye Gray (www.kellyegray.com). Gray began her career on 6th Street and was a fixture in Houston for several years before moving to San Francisco in 1992. The Houston Press says "Gray has a sort of Sarah Vaughn sits-around-with-Sade-at-Ella Fitzgerald's-house-voice that has tremendous strength and range", while Sunday Star Ledger calls her "A jazz singer with the ability to connect with a generation raised on rock".

Enjoy delicious food provided by Starlite, Woodlands and Lambert's Restaurants and sip the signature cocktail provided by 42 Below Vodka. Admission is $10, Badge Holders get in free.

I liked the venue and the music. The time was too late. Also many friends did not come due to the mix up of who was invited and for what price.

It was a hot & muggy night, most likely the humid remnants of Gustav. Thankfully, there was plenty of the chilled 42 Below "Pash" cocktails to go around. And Kellye Gray's velvet-throated vocals floated across the patio like a refreshing breeze. Drinks, Jazz, and Gaiety. Nice turnout.
